Today we rolled out a new version of CamCamX which includes a lower-latency camera driver (less delay from the original source camera to the virtualized camera). This update should also correct problems with audio sync drift when recording CamCamX output with QuickTime Pro.

CamCamX 1.511 is now available with full Leopard support. Now you can record live mixes in Leopard directly using PhotoBooth's movie recording feature. Simply install the PhotoBooth plug-ins from the Goodies folder, start CamCamX using the Built-in iSight (Leopard), and then start Photo Booth. You can do a variety of Picture in Picture style mixing or simply use CamCamX full screen in Photo Booth.

Also in 1.511 is full support for iChat Theater in Leopard. Simply choose "Share a File with iChat Theater", and select the file from our goodies folder. As long as CamCamX is running you will be able to use CamCamX as your iChat Theater source. Typically, this will involve having at least one additional hardware camera. Using CamCamX and iChat Theater means you can make a video mix with three camera sources. CamCamX supports two, and iChat supports one. As a double bonus, you can also have Skype and Yahoo Messenger running at the same time, and send the same video mix to all three chat clients at once. Truly revolutionary!

Also included in the new release is a Tiger-compatible Quartz Composer plug-in (sample QC patches included), which will allow you to build custom Quartz Compositions which include the CamCamX mix output as part of the composition. Remember, both Qamera and DotMatrix are also supported in this way, so many creative combinations are possible for live performance.
